"How to block pop-up ads that automatically open new tabs in Google Chrome using the AdBlock extension. Follow this easy, step-by-step tutorial."
If you often search for files on websites filled with ads, you’re probably all too familiar with just how annoying that can be. You might find yourself constantly dealing with pop-up ads and new tabs opening automatically for hours on end. In fact, sometimes you end up not finding the file you’re looking for because you accidentally download potentially harmful files through suspicious ads.
Some websites can even open multiple new tabs at once or redirect you to unknown pages every time you click something. Aside from being annoying, these unwanted redirects can also cause you to accidentally download suspicious files or ones that could harm your computer.
Well, in this tutorial, I’ll show you how to quickly and easily block most pop-up ads that automatically open new tabs. With that, browsing on file-hosting websites or any other ad-filled sites, can become much more comfortable, so, how do you block those annoying pop-up ads? Let’s take a look at the tutorial below.
Tutorial:
- First, go to the website [Here] to install the AdBlock extension on your Google Chrome browser.
- Once you’re on the Chrome Web Store page, click the blue “Add to Chrome” button, then wait a few seconds for the confirmation pop-up box to appear.
- In the confirmation pop-up window, click “Add extension” to continue the installation process.
- Wait until the extension installation is complete.
- Once the installation is complete, you should be redirected to the official AdBlock website.
- Now, you should be able to see the AdBlock icon in the top-right corner of your browser. If the icon isn’t visible, click the puzzle-shaped Extensions icon that I’ve pointed to with the cursor in the image. You’ll then find the AdBlock icon in the list of extensions; click the pin icon next to it to display AdBlock directly on the browser toolbar.
- AdBlock should already be enabled automatically, now, all you need to do is refresh a website that has a lot of pop-up ads, and AdBlock will try to block unwanted pop-ups and ads as you browse that website.
Conclusion
Well, that’s how you block websites filled with dozens or even hundreds of pop-up ads that might appear every time you try to download something from them.
With AdBlock enabled, you shouldn’t have to worry too much anymore about being constantly bombarded by unwanted pop-ups while browsing that website. Hopefully, this simple trick can make your browsing and downloading a bit easier and less frustrating..
